Our Church


The parish church is dedicated to St Bartholomew and was designed by William Butter eld.
It dates from 1850 when, due to their poor condition, the nave and the chancel were completely rebuilt at a cost of £7000 which was largely borne by the Bastard family.

Our “middle of the road” services are made up of services of Holy Communion and lay-led services of Morning Worship. A typical monthly service pattern is:
On the fifth Sunday a joint service is held with Yealmpton Methodist Church.
Special Services


At Christmas we hold a Christingle Service with a carol service at 4.00pm on Christmas Eve.


For Children
On most Tuesday mornings during school holidays and half terms we hold craft activities in church for children accompanied by an adult following which a simple lunch is served. There is no charge for this.
For Adults
We hold occasional activities for adults including singing and craft activities such as Christmas wreath making, and social get togethers perhaps including Mexican Dominos.
For Older People

Anna Chaplains have been commissioned to visit residents of care homes. For more information contact Tricia on 01752 873458.
Special Events


A Christmas Tree festival is held annually.

Environment
Swift boxes have been installed, areas of the churchyard left uncut and bulbs planted.

About the village
Yealmpton village is centrally located on the main A379 road between Kingsbridge and Plymouth and has quick access to the A38 making it popular for commuters.
The village has shops, pubs, restaurants and a tea room. There is a petrol station and garage, as well as a medical centre.
The annual Yealmpton Agricultural Show is a high point in the year.
Yealmpton is home to a 400-year-old stone cottage, where it is said a version of the famous rhyme Old Mother Hubbard was written.
